F.A.Q.'s

Sometimes we need a little bit more...and that is ok!

HOW SAFE IS IT TRAVELING TO PARAGUAY?
We haven’t experienced safety issues traveling to Paraguay as a group or individually.  We have family in Coronel Bogado who assist us throughout our trip stay. Paraguay is an incredible location and we are well respected as a group while we are on our trip.

DO I NEED TO PLAY SOCCER OR BE ON A COMPETITIVE TEAM TO TRAVEL?
No.  We only ask that you have a passion for the beautiful game since that is our gateway into communities who LOVE the game.  There are opportunities to play and we do need girls that can showcase skills in our workshops, however, many girls who play at ALL levels travel with us and, at times, girls who don't play join in on the fun!

DO I NEED TO SPEAK SPANISH TO TRAVEL TO PARAGUAY?
It will definitely help to make your trip more enjoyable and allow you to engage into the Paraguayan culture on a deeper level.
However, it is not required as many GSW Ambassadors have little to no Spanish knowledge.

DO I NEED A VISA TO ENTER PARAGUAY?
Yes. Proof of Passport and Visa will be required by GSW 30 days prior to travel.
Passports can take 2-3 months to receive and Visa can take up to a month once applications are received in the Paraguayan Consulate.

ARE THERE ANY FOOD AND WATER SAFETY CONCERNS IN PARAGUAY?
We haven’t encountered any water or food concerns in the past. On some occasions, due to an introduction of new foods, some travellers may experience digestion issues during the week. However, this is not due to safety concerns with food.  We strongly suggest doing your research that are more specific to any concerns you might have for your daughter.  Please know we have limited ability to accommodate for rare allergies, but can adjust meals for those who do not eat meat.

DO WE NEED IMMUNIZATIONS TO TRAVEL TO PARAGUAY?
No. However, we recommend seeking advice from your family doctor and speaking to the Paraguayan consulate when applying for your Visa to make an educated decision for your family.

DO I NEED TO BE A SOCCER PLAYER TO TRAVEL WITH GSW?
Playing soccer is 50% of your trip experience, however, it is NOT required. We use volunteers in many capacities to make a difference where it counts so don’t let this stop you from applying.  With this said, please know our movement is to empower the next generation of Female Student Athletes and believing in that same philosophy is important for us to make the strongest impact when we travel.

IS GIRLS SOCCER WORLDWIDE™ A CHRISTIAN MISSION TRIP ?
We'll start by saying our Co-Founders are Christians, however, our organization is all inclusive for those who believe in our movement.  They never want any family to feel as if they can not participate due to personal beliefs and miss out on an incredible experience that is life changing.   There are times we pray as a group, such as:  before travel and around the table at Thanksgiving, and at no time is anyone expected to participate.
